Higher-carbohydrate fuel for demanding sessions

High Carb Fuel is Tailwind's higher-carbohydrate option for harder training and racing. One full serving supplies 90g of carbohydrate with electrolytes, so it belongs in a practised plan rather than being introduced for the first time on race day.

Use it well

Build up gradually and practise the concentration

Follow the instructions on the exact pack and practise higher carbohydrate intake progressively in training. Consider the rest of your food, drink and electrolyte plan before adding other fuel products.

When does High Carb Fuel make sense?

It is designed for high-intensity or demanding endurance efforts where a higher carbohydrate target is appropriate. It is not automatically necessary for every session.

How should I mix it?

Tailwind's current instructions say to mix one full serving with 475–710ml water and sip it over about an hour. Use the exact pack supplied as the final instruction source.

Tailwind questions

The useful details before you choose

How much carbohydrate is in Tailwind High Carb Fuel?

One full current serving provides 90g of carbohydrate. Check the selected pack and serving format before use.

How is High Carb Fuel different from Endurance Fuel?

High Carb Fuel provides a higher carbohydrate serving using dextrose, maltodextrin and fructose. Endurance Fuel is the lower-carbohydrate Tailwind option for sustained efforts and uses a different carbohydrate formula.

Do I need to train my gut for High Carb Fuel?

Tailwind recommends building higher carbohydrate intake gradually over several weeks. Start in training and extend the progression if you experience digestive discomfort.

How should I mix High Carb Fuel?

Tailwind's current instructions say to mix a full serving with 475–710ml of water and sip it over about an hour, or use it more concentrated only alongside enough additional water.

Can I combine High Carb Fuel with gels or other drink mixes?

High Carb Fuel already supplies a high carbohydrate load with electrolytes. Count everything in the complete plan and avoid adding products automatically; practise the exact combination in training.

What dietary information does Tailwind provide?

Tailwind describes the current High Carb Fuel formula as gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free and soy-free. Recipes can change, so check the ingredients and allergen information on the exact pack supplied.

Training and event use

Training: Build towards a full sachet gradually in demanding training. Tailwind suggests progressing from one sachet over 90 minutes towards one over 60 minutes across several weeks.

Event use: Use only after training the exact concentration, hourly intake and fluid plan. Carry enough additional water if using it as a concentrate.

Certification and testing
Tailwind states that products are independently tested for nutritional accuracy through Eurofins. No sport-testing certification is stated on the product pages checked; drug-tested athletes should check the current pack and batch.
Cautions and individual suitability
A full serving is a high carbohydrate load. Build tolerance gradually in training. Tailwind advises against automatically adding gels or other drink mixes because the combined load can cause digestive discomfort. Check the exact pack for sodium.
