Why natural deodorant
Know what you are changing
The honest reason to choose a natural deodorant is not that antiperspirant is dangerous. Current evidence does not show that deodorants or aluminium-containing antiperspirants cause cancer. The useful difference is what each product is designed to do, how the formula feels on your skin and how much packaging you want to keep throwing away.

Manages odour while you still sweat
Fussy focuses on odour-causing bacteria and uses absorbent ingredients for some surface moisture. It contains no aluminium salts, so perspiration still happens. That is normal, but it can feel different if you are used to a strong antiperspirant.
Choose it when odour control, a solid stick and a refillable system matter more to you than reducing perspiration.
Antiperspirant
Reduces how much you sweat
Antiperspirants use aluminium salts to reduce perspiration. For some people, that is exactly the function they want, particularly in hot conditions or when visible sweat is the main concern.
There is no good evidence that ordinary antiperspirant use causes cancer, so this decision does not need a scare story attached to it.

How Fussy approaches odour, moisture and skin feel
Odour control
Magnesium hydroxide and a small amount of sodium bicarbonate in the normal formula help neutralise the bacteria involved in body odour.
Moisture management
Tapioca starch helps absorb some surface moisture. It does not turn the product into an antiperspirant or stop you sweating.
Skin feel
Sunflower wax, coconut oil and shea butter give the stick its structure and help it glide across the skin.
The Fussy difference
The formula includes a Lactobacillus ferment used to help limit odour-causing bacteria. Results and skin tolerance can still vary.
Why Fussy exists
The difficult bit was making the greener option easy to live with
Fussy began when four friends looked at the steady stream of single-use packaging in their bathrooms and decided there had to be a better answer. They put their savings on the kitchen table and set themselves a harder brief: the sustainable option also had to feel familiar, work properly and look good enough to keep.
The team developed Fussy through 2020 while working day jobs and starting families. Thousands of early customers backed the first Kickstarter. Matt Kennedy and Eddie Fisher then took the business on full time, before bringing the case, the refills and a memorable wheelie-bin pitch to Dragons' Den.
The humour helped people notice them. The product idea underneath it was serious. A reusable case only reduces repeat packaging if it is convenient enough to keep using.
That is why the environmental detail matters. The outer case is plastic, not a magically impact-free material. Fussy chose a durable, single-material case that can be recycled at the end of its life, then paired it with plastic-free refill shells made from waste sugarcane pulp. Fussy says those shells can home-compost in around six to twelve months.
RSG likes the honesty of that trade-off. Keep the part built to last. Replace only the deodorant. It is a small routine change, but it tackles the repeat waste rather than dressing up another disposable product.

Questions before you switch
What is the difference between deodorant and antiperspirant?
Deodorant is made to manage body odour. Antiperspirant is made to reduce perspiration, usually using aluminium salts. Fussy is a deodorant, so you should expect to keep sweating.
Does aluminium-free mean safer?
Not automatically. Fussy contains no aluminium salts, but there is no sound scientific evidence that ordinary deodorant or antiperspirant use causes cancer. Choose between them by the job you want the product to do, its ingredients, how your skin responds and the packaging system you prefer.
How long should one refill last?
Fussy says one refill usually lasts four to six weeks with daily use. The amount you apply, how often you reapply and the conditions you use it in will change that.
What do I do with an empty refill?
Fussy says the refill shell is made from waste sugarcane pulp and can be home-composted, where it should break down in roughly six to twelve months. It can also go in general waste. The outer case is designed to be kept and refilled.
Why is the reusable case made from plastic?
Fussy chose one durable, recyclable material so the case can handle daily use and be recycled at the end of its life. The environmental value depends on keeping that case and replacing only the plastic-free refill.
What should I check if my underarms are sensitive?
The normal formula contains bicarbonate of soda, and fragranced deodorant can irritate some skin. Check the current ingredient list, try a small area first if you are prone to reactions, avoid applying to broken or freshly irritated skin, and stop if discomfort develops.
