Description

40g of carbohydrate, with a choice of low or high salt, in one neutral-tasting gel.

truefuels Energy Gel is built for runners, cyclists and triathletes who want simple fuelling maths without strong flavour getting in the way. Each 70g sachet provides 40g carbohydrate from maltodextrin and fructose in a 1:1 ratio, plus potassium and magnesium. Choose the salt level to suit the conditions and your wider hydration plan.

Low salt or high salt?

Gel Best starting point Per sachet
40/0.25 Low Salt Cooler conditions, lower sweat losses or when sodium is coming from your drink 40g carbohydrate, 0.25g salt, 98mg sodium
40/1 High Salt Warmer conditions, longer efforts or higher sweat and sodium losses 40g carbohydrate, 1g salt, 386mg sodium

Salt needs vary widely. Temperature, duration, body size, sweat rate, acclimation and the sodium already supplied by drinks or food all matter. Practise in training and treat these as clear options, not a one-size-fits-all prescription.

How to use truefuels Energy Gel

One gel gives 40g carbohydrate; two give 80g. Count carbohydrate from every gel, drink and food in your plan. Start with an intake you already tolerate, build gradually in training and take enough fluid for the conditions. A high-salt gel adds sodium but does not replace a complete hydration plan.

Ingredients

Water, maltodextrin, fructose, coconut water powder, Himalayan salt, tri-magnesium citrate and preservative (potassium sorbate).

Pack formats

  • Single sachet: test Low Salt or High Salt before choosing a larger pack.
  • Pack of 5: a practical trial or race-weekend pack in one salt level.
  • Pack of 10: a full supplier box for training blocks and events in one salt level.

truefuels states that the product is vegan and gluten free. Informed Sport independently lists both the standard and low-salt Performance_Gel as certified products, but Ready Sweat Go has not verified the exact batch held in stock. Tested athletes should check the wrapper batch against the current Informed Sport directory before use.

truefuels Energy Gel FAQs

How much carbohydrate is in one truefuels Energy Gel?

Each 70g sachet provides 40g carbohydrate from maltodextrin and fructose in a 1:1 ratio. Count carbohydrate from every gel, drink and food source when setting an hourly target.

What is the difference between Low Salt and High Salt?

Low Salt provides 98mg sodium per sachet; High Salt provides 386mg. Choose in the context of temperature, duration, fluid intake and your individual sweat losses rather than assuming more salt is always better.

What does the gel taste like?

truefuels describes the gel as neutral. That can suit athletes who tire of sweet or strongly flavoured fuel during long events, but texture and taste should still be tested in training.

Do I need water with it?

Use the gel alongside an appropriate fluid plan. It is not a replacement for drinking, and the right amount of fluid depends on conditions, duration and the individual.

Which pack should I start with?

Choose a single sachet or the mixed six-gel trial pack to compare Low Salt and High Salt. Move to a 20-gel box once you know the format works for your training and race plan.

Is it suitable for vegan or gluten-free diets?

truefuels lists the gel as vegan and gluten free. Always check the current wrapper and manufacturer information if you have an allergy, dietary requirement or anti-doping concern.
